Denise Landis started The Cook's Cook in 2014, after twenty-five years testing recipes for the New York Times. Cooks find each other here. 353 people have written for us, and anyone who cooks can join us. Publish your own recipes, follow the cooks you learn from, share what you have cooked.
A writer's writer is the one other writers read. The Cook's Cook is the same idea: cooks writing for other cooks.
Some of them write a column, coming back to their own subject every month. The rest write when they have something to say. Might be once, twice, or over many years. Some cook for a living, some used to, some just cook a lot. Every piece carries the name of the cook who wrote it, and every cook has a profile page of their own.
Recipes are the backbone. The rest is what one cook tells another and rarely writes down: where a dish came from, why it is made that way, the bit their grandmother did differently. Stories and secrets, cook to cook.
Anyone who cooks can join, free. Publish your own recipes, follow the cooks you learn from, comment under a recipe, save the ones you mean to make, and show us what you cooked.
There is a Facebook group of 94,900 cooks as well, where members show each other what they made, and we are on Pinterest, Instagram and X. The newsletter goes out free on the first Saturday of the month.
If you cook, you belong here.
